Ink & Drink Screenprinting Demonstration!

Monday, June 7th, 2010

I will be giving a screenprinting demonstration at Atelier Meridian (http://www.ateliermeridian.com/) on Friday June 11, 2010 from 6pm - 10pm.

Here is a nice little bit that Jane Pagliarulolo wrote about it.

Palmarin Merges comfortably compounds imagery, text, and color to create pictures that read like well-written wallpaper. She is known for leading workshops on rambling try-anything-or-die-trying adventures through the material cabinets and bins. Come to grill her on embossement and embroidery and the low rumbling waves that shake the crust of the Pacific Rim centuries from their point of origin.

Ink & Drink - despite its moniker - is kid-friendly! Kids are invited to come and make art with wreckless abandon in our spacious, cement-floored studio.

I hope to see you there!!!

Extraordinary Ordinary Falcon

Happy New Year All!

Julie and I have finally gotten a handle on our exquisite corpse collaborative project and here is a finished piece.

Even Falcons come home

Even Falcons come home

Whether it will make it into the March 2010 Blackfish Gallery Backroom Show is still to be determined!  What has been most interesting about this project are the itierations that the project itself has gone through.  We started out with an excessively broad base and have winnowed it down to a few requirements. Which on hindsight seems backwards but it’s hard to tell where you’re going unless you Start.  Enjoy!

“From My Heart to Yours”.  At the event I added some leaves that I inked up and printed onto a yellow background.

As you can see to the right, I cleaned up the gold leaf and added some acrylic paint.  I wanted to keep the colors bright and cheery.  It is a sobering thing to see pictures of babies weighing 4lbs who’ve had major surgery and only live for a few months afterwards. I am grateful to have participated in such a worthwhile event.

PULSE 2008 in the Printmaking Area

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

This is a picture of a few of the Printmaking Artists invited by Jane Pagliarulo.  Jane & Company did a lot of work getting everything together for the Printmaking Area. Thanks Jane! It was an exciting event and three of the 5 pieces I did that evening were auctioned off.  Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of them, having been too busy finishing them to take pictures! Artists working from 10am - 7pm

The Heart is a lonely hunter

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I’m going to be participating in PULSE, a fundraiser on NOV. 8, 2008 for the Children’s Heart Foundation and have hearts on my brain.  This piece won’t be part of the fundraiser because the works are to be created during the one-day event and I’m doing this now as my weekly challenge.  This particular piece will be in the Multnomah Arts Center Instructors Show & Concert Oct. 28 – Dec 2, 2008.  The opening will be on November 7, 2008 from 5-7pm with the Music Faculty Concert at 7:15pm.  Good Times for All!  I hope to see you there!

Drive By Press Collection of Prints

Drive By Press Collection of Prints

Drive By Press is a two person team driving a van loaded with prints, blocks, screens and an etching press on a coast-to-coast mission to promote printmaking. Their visit to PNCA Oct. 16 & 17 included lectures on contemporary printmaking, history of printmaking, printmaking and installation and performance, and hands-on printmaking of woodcuts on paper and t-shirts. Drive By Press http://www.drivebypress.org/!  Joseph and Katie were amazing.  I especially enjoyed Jospeh’s talk about taking risks in art and in life. Keep on truckin’ !

PULSE 2008 benefitting the OR Chapter of The Children’s Heart Foundation

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

On November 8th, 2008 at 1 p.m., I will be participating in - PULSE.

Thirty-five artists will come together and work side-by-side at Staver Locomotive in industrial NW to create their magnum opus dedicated to the hearts of children, in this 3rd annual event. As the beat picks up at 5pm, art enthusiasts are invited to witness the artists in process while their work of art develops. At 9 p.m., the crowd will enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and live music while these fresh new pieces of work are sold in a silent auction.

Portland’s best chefs, vintners, brewers, and musicians have joined us to make PULSE the don’t-miss-event-of-the-year. This year, we are excited to welcome Trio Subtronic from 5-7, Novatron from 7-9 and Jujuba from 9-11.
